7 Days // 20 seconds a day // Someone new each day

My hairstylist has always given the best hugs!

I’ve been with Kitty for 18 years. We’ve both built and disassembled businesses, gotten married and had kids two months apart.

She’s taken me from long and blond, to short and black, to mid and brown, and back to long and blond.

While our visits are always a treat, the thing she’s known for, beyond her amazing colours & cuts,  is her amazing hugs!

When she greets you, her arms wrap right around your body and squeeze till she feels your shoulders relax and you start to breath again

For some people, I’m sure this can be a new experience, but she’s done this for as long as I can remember

A few months ago I asked why she holds on for so long

Kitty said, ‘We’re all so busy we rarely stop to enjoy a good hug. When I hug my clients, it’s a way for them to let go of their busy paced life and enjoy our time together'”

I couldn’t agree more

Sometimes it still takes me close to 20 seconds to give in, and sometimes I’m the one hanging on longer

This conversation hit home when she told me she established a rule between her and her equally busy husband, that should one of them need connection, they would simply mention needing a  20 second hug.

The two of them would then embrace for as long as needed

I was so inspired I implemented this into my own relationship and it has been amazing

Then I told my dad about it, and a few days later my mom was called to ask what I spoke to dad about and that whatever it was, I should talk to him more often

I challenge you in the next 7 days to give a new person everyday, a 20 second hug

It can be your spouse, mom, son, or someone you think that could use a good hug

A hug can change the world, even for just one person
